Our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test provides expectant mothers with an opportunity to determine biological paternity before the baby is born. Testing may be available beginning at 7 weeks of pregnancy, subject to the testing laboratory’s eligibility requirements.
The test uses a blood sample from the pregnant mother and a DNA sample from the alleged father. Fetal DNA circulating in the mother’s bloodstream is analyzed and compared with the alleged father’s DNA to determine the probability of paternity.
Because the test uses a maternal blood draw rather than an invasive fetal sample, there is no invasive collection procedure involving the baby.
